"Thanks for the warmth & hospitality. We enjoyed our stay in the
Smokehouse. It was a wonderful way to spend our first evening together as husband &
wife. We look forward to returning in the near future." Noel & Abby White.
"We couldnt have had a better time. Everything
was perfect. Thank you for the months of work and preparation for our wedding. I know I
wont ever forget our wonderful time. I hate to leave every time I come here.
Everyone worked so hard, as did your community of friends to help make everything work out
so smoothly and elegantly. Thanks so much for everything." --Love Rachael &

You
have your wedding guest list with all names correctly spelled plus their addresses, phone
numbers, etc. Next you might want to create a card file with alphabetical tabs plus tabs
for Confirmed or Declined invitations. Save the declined cards. Even though they can't
attend they may send a gift which you will want to record so you can send out a Thank You
note.
A
few weeks prior to the wedding you will want to have a friend or a member of the family
phone the guest as to their plans. Keep in mind the caterer is expecting a final count by
a specific date. You may want to add a few guests to the final count to cover any
unexpected or last minute guests.
The invitation should reflect, in style and wording the nature of the ceremony
- formal or informal. This is important as you don't want to make anyone uncomfortable by
showing up overdressed or underdressed for the occasion.
The wording of the invitations is important. Formal weddings should have traditional
wording while an informal invitation can be casual and personalized. Have enough
invitations printed for last minute additions, address changes and keepsakes. Remember the
stationary should be consistent including any maps for out-of-town guests.
Choosing a printer for your invitations as very important. Be sure to ask that samples of
their previous work be included with their bid. They should also have samples for the
wording of the invitations for you to choose from or use as a guideline.
Variations of the wording can vary in format depending whether the brides
family is hosting the wedding or if both sets of parents are hosts.
Your invitations should be addressed and mailed six to eight weeks prior to the event with
the RSVP date at least two weeks prior to the day the caterer's final count is due.
Before mailing the invitations take a sample to the postoffice so it can be weighed for
appropriate postage. Don't forget to purchase enough stamps for the RSVP envelope and make
sure that the stamps, commemorative or otherwise, are appropriate to the occasion.
